Sales of admissions for Anime North 2014 will open Jan 02, 2014.
Details will be posted here in Dec 2013. We expect prices/number of admissions available to remain the same as 2013, but cannot absolutely confirm this yet.
For reference, the Anime North 2013 Registration information below will remain, but any of this information could be changed for 2014.
Weekend/Group admissions for Anime North 2013 are now sold out. They will not be sold at the Registration Desk at the convention.
Single day Friday, Saturday and Sunday admissions are still widely available.
We will also be instituting an $5 cost-of-living price increase on Weekend and Saturday-only admissions. This is Anime North's first price increase in several years.
As you're all no doubt aware, Anime North has been getting bigger and bigger each year for quite a while now, with each year setting a new attendance record. While this is great in a lot of ways (we love to see everyone coming out and having fun), handling all these people, getting all the attendees into and around the con without having to stand in line-ups for hours, is a huge job, especially when you're a volunteer-run event. There are also potential issues of over-crowding at our more popular events, and in the hotels in general that have to be taken seriously. Because of this, Anime North has now established an attendance cap.
The objective is to limit total attendance on any single day to 20,000 people. Taking this into account, the total number of admissions that will be sold for Anime North 2013 will be:
- Weekend/Group: 15,000
- Friday-only: 5,000
- Saturday-only: 5,000
- Sunday-only: 5,000
Weekend and Saturday-only are the most popular admission choices, and we cannot guarantee that any of these admissions will be available for purchase at the door of the convention; we strongly recommend you purchase your Weekend or Saturday-only admissions through pre-registration when it opens Jan 02, 2013. Friday-only and Sunday-only admissions (which are much less popular) will be available for purchase at the door of the convention, and will also be available through pre-registration this year.
You might ask why Anime North does not simply move to a larger venue. We have looked at possible other locations, but so far, they have had drawbacks that would affect the convention: insufficient nearby hotel rooms, limited public transit access, lack of smaller programming space necessary for many of our events, or higher venue fees that would have to be passed on to the attendees. Finally, there are limits on how large a convention our volunteer staff can handle.
The attendance cap was first introduced in 2012 and worked well, so it will be continued with no changes for 2013. Please take it into account when you make your plans for attending the con in 2013.
Anime North 2013 Registration Information
Admissions to Anime North 2013 will be sold before the con through Pre-Registration and in limited numbers at the door of the convention. Anime North merchandise and special event tickets can also be pre-ordered along with admissions.
The Registration Desk at the convention will be located in the Toronto Congress Center just inside the main entrance doors of Hall F. Registration Desk staff will be on hand to sell limited Anime North admissions, check the confirmation forms of Anime North admissions sold through Pre-Registration, and hand out convention badges to attendees. Registration Desk hours are:

*Please Note: on Friday evening, Anime North Registration reserves the right to cap the lineup at the Registration Desk, starting at 8PM, to ensure the staff will have adequate time to complete processing the line by 9PM.
All taxes (HST) are included in admission prices.
All attendees of Anime North are required to wear an Anime North convention badge at the con, as proof that you have purchased an admission and are entitled to attend all the convention's functions. Badges are obtained at the Registration Desk. If you have pre-registered for the convention, you can present your confirmation form from Eventbrite to pick up your badge at the Pre-Registration section of the Registration Desk. You can also purchase limited Anime North admissions directly at the Registration Desk and receive your badge. Attendees are required to print their full names on the badges, and show them to security upon request.
Warning: there have been attempts in the past by individuals to sell fake Anime North convention badges, for example by claiming to offer “discounts” on “bulk” badges purchased from the convention and being resold for charity. These fake badges are either sent through the mail, or provided at some other venue than the Registration Desk, such as the TCC parking lot. Legitimate Anime North convention badges are only available for pickup at the Registration Desk in the Toronto Congress Center during the evening of May 23, 2013 and during regular convention hours on May 24-26, 2013. Anime North employs anti-counterfeiting measures for our badges and fake badges will be confiscated by Security, and their wearers required to leave the convention
Children 6 to 13 years of age are admitted for half-price of the corresponding single admission adult prices, but must be accompanied by an adult 18 years old or over. Child prices are no longer applied to group admissions.
Children aged 5 and under are admitted free, but must be accompanied by an adult 18 years old or over.
Thursday Night Check-In
Anime North will also be having a Pre-Registration only Check-In Thursday night, May 23, 2013, to allow attendees who have pre-registered to pick up their convention badges the night before the convention opens. See Thursday Night Check-In for more information.
At The Door Registration
Limited Anime North admissions will be on sale at the Registration Desk for all three days of the convention.
Due to the Attendance Cap, we cannot guarantee any Weekend or Saturday admissions will be available for sale at the door of the convention. In 2012, Weekend admissions sold out through Pre-Registration and only 35% of Saturday-only were available at the door.
Friday-Only and Sunday-Only admissions will be available at the door.
Cash only will be accepted at the door; no cheques, credit cards or debit cards.
In 2013, we are instituting a $5 cost-of-living price increase on Weekend and Saturday-only admissions, our first price increase in five years.
Anime North Pre-Registration
Admissions to Anime North 2013 can be purchased before the convention through Pre-Registration, along with special event tickets and merchandise. Special prices are offered for some admissions for a limited time.
Full Weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), Single Day Only, and Group admissions are available for purchase.
Due to the attendance cap (15,000 Weekend/Group, 5,000 of each Single Day Only admissions), we cannot guarantee that any Weekend or Saturday-Only admissions will be available at the door of the convention. Friday and Sunday single day admissions will be available for purchase at the door.
Orders can be send through the regular mail (paying by cheque or money order) or through our online form on the Eventbrite website, paying by credit card.
Single Weekend or Single Day-Only Anime North admissions are for 1 Adult or Child each. Note that multiple single admissions can be ordered at a time.
Adult prices for Weekend single admissions are (children between 6-13 are half price):
- From Jan 02 to March 15: $50 CDN / USD
- From March 16 to May 17: $60 CDN / USD
Adult prices for Single Day Only single admissions are (children between 6-13 are half price):
- Friday Only: $35 CDN / USD
- Saturday Only: $45 CDN / USD
- Sunday Only: $35 CDN / USD
Anime North Group Admissions allows groups of 15 or more people to pre-register at special prices for the full weekend. Note: the size of a group admission has been increased from 10 to 15 people for 2013.
Prices for Group admissions are (Note: child prices are not applied to group admissions):
- From Jan 02 to March 15: $45 CDN / USD per group member
- From March 16 to May 17: $55 CDN / USD per group member
Groups must pre-register in advance; group admissions cannot be purchased at the door.

Submitting a Pre-Registration
Pre-Registrations can be submitted by regular mail, or through our online Pre-Registration site.
Anime North uses the Eventbrite ticker server to perform our online registration. Through it, you may purchase single Weekend or Single-Day admissions (either adult or children), Group admissions, merchandise or special event tickets for Anime North 2013 using your credit card.
Note, there will a processing fee of approx. 4.5% charged by Eventbrite for each admission or item purchased. Attendees who do not wish to pay this fee can pre-register through the regular mail using the forms available in the next section.

Pre-Registration through Regular Mail
Attendees can also pre-register by completing and submitted an Anime North Registration Form through the regular mail, with payment by cheque or money order.
Deadline for purchasing Anime North 2013 admissions through regular mail is March 15, 2013.
Pre-registration through the regular mail is shutting down earlier in 2013 than in previous years. This is to help ensure admissions through the regular mail do not exceed the attendance cap.
After a pre-registration form is received and processed, a confirmation form for each admission/special event ticket/t-shirt purchased will be sent back by email (or regular mail if the purchaser does not have an email address). The email will be from the Eventbrite ticket server, with the confirmation being an attached .PDF file, with a link to the file included in the body of the email.
Online registrations should receive a confirmation form by email within 24 hours of purchase.
Registrations by regular mail will take approx. 3 weeks from mailing to receive their confirmation forms.
For group registrations, individual confirmation forms will be sent out to all group members. Copies will also be sent to the group leader. If individual members do not receive their confirmation forms, please contact the group leader first to see if he/she has received a copy.
Please bring a copy of your confirmation with you to the Registration Desk when you first arrive at the convention to receive your convention badge. Note that groups do not have to arrive together; individual forms are sent out so group members can arrive separately.
Providing a valid email address will ensure a quicker response to your registration. Anime North does not trade or sell email addresses; they are kept confidential.
Pre-Registration by Regular Mail (Closed)
- Anime North uses the Eventbrite ticker server to perform our online registration.
- Attendees may purchase through online registration Weekend or Single-Day Only admissions (either adult or children), Group admissions, Merchandise and Special Event tickets for Anime North 2013.
- On arriving at the Eventbrite website, simply select the number of each type of admission, special event ticket or merchandise that you wish to purchase
- You will then be required to provide the FULL NAME of each person that the admission or ticket is being purchased for, and their email address. If the email is not available, use the group leader email address. Only the ticket purchaser will be required to provide a full address, when submitting payment.
- Please make sure that all emails are valid and correctly spelled for attendees to receive their confirmations.
- Payment will be made through PayPal, which accepts credit cards or the use of a PayPal account.
- Note, there will a processing fee of approx 4.5% charged by Eventbrite for each individual admission, special event ticket or t-shirt purchase, on top of the Anime North purchase price (i.e. for a $50 Weekend admission, add $2.25 processing fee). All processing fees are listed on the Eventbrite order webpage.
Individual confirmations for the Anime North admissions, special event tickets and merchandise purchases will be emailed out by Eventbrite within 24 hours of your purchase. This confirmation will be a .PDF file, with a link to the file included in the body of the email. PayPal will also send a confirmation of the payment made through it (this is not your Anime North confirmation). If these are not received, then there may have been a problem with your purchase; please contact Anime North Registration for verification.

Thursday Night Pre-Registration Check-In
Attendees who have pre-registered will be available to pickup their convention badges at the Registration Desk in the Toronto Congress Centre during all three days of the convention. Anime North will also be having a Pre-Registration only check-in Thursday night, May 23, 2013 at the Toronto Congress Centre (Note: not the Doubletree Hotel as in previous years). This will allow attendees who have pre-registered to pick up their convention badges and registration packets ahead of time.
Registrations to Anime North 2013 will NOT be sold at this event. It is for pre-registered attendees only.
The check-in will run from 5PM - 9PM in Hall F of the Toronto Congress Centre. The entrance is on the west side of the building, about two-thirds the way down.
Note: Anime North reserves the right to cap the lineup at 8PM on Thursday night. To be certain to obtain your badge on this event, please come before 8PM.
Brunch and Moonlight Ball tickets will be available for pickup. There will also be a Weapons Check desk open.
Any convention function not specifically mentioned here will not be available Thursday night. The con does not officially start until Friday and most departments will still be in the early stages of setup.
Attendees can also pick up badges for friends if they bring their confirmation forms. Note that once you do, you are responsible for getting the badges to them; they cannot pick up another from the Registration Desk.
Group Leaders can pick up his/hers entire group's badges and registration packets, if he brings his/her own confirmation form to identify him as a group leader. There will be a separate lineup for Group Leader pickups; check with Security to make sure you are in the correct lineup.
Special Event Tickets
Tickets for Anime North Special Events can be purchased ahead of time through Pre-Registration. Simply note how many tickets you wish to purchase on the registration form and include payment. Tickets ordered through Pre-Registration will be available for pickup at various Desks at the convention (see below for details); they will not be available beforehand. Desk Staffs will have a list of names of everyone who has pre-purchased tickets. Also, please be sure to bring your Special Event Ticket confirmation form submitted by Eventbrite.
Note: you must also have purchased an Anime North admission that covers the day of the event to attend one of the listed Anime North Special Events. You do not have to purchase your Anime North admission at the same time as the ticket, but must have a valid Anime North attendee badge to pick up your ticket at the convention.
Only limited numbers of Special Event tickets will be available and we cannot guarantee that any will be for sale at the convention itself. If you wish to attend one of these events, you should purchase a ticket through Pre-Registration.
Momiji Awards Brunch
An Anime North tradition - each year we present the "Momiji Award" to an individual or group of individuals who have made a significant contribution to anime, manga or Japanese culture. Join our guests on Saturday 10 AM - Noon in the Sutherland Room of the Toronto Congress Centre for a buffet-style brunch of all your favourite breakfast treats.
Brunch tickets will be $25 apiece. The Brunch is a popular event, so purchase your ticket early if you want to attend. Tickets will be available for pickup at the Registration Desk at the con.

The Moonlight Ball, a semi-formal dance event, will be held Friday evening, May 24, at the Airport Marriott Hotel, starting at 9PM. There will be dancing, games, contests, refreshments, and prizes.
The theme for this year's ball is Steampunk and will be titled Moonlight (Clock Works) Ball. More information will be posted later on the Anime North website.
Ticket prices will be $35 before the convention, and $40 at the door. There will a total of 400 Ball tickets available.

Anime North Merchandise
Various Anime North merchandise can be purchased ahead of time through Pre-Registration. Simply note how many items you wish to purchase on the registration form and include payment along with admission fees.
Merchandise ordered through Pre-Registration will be available for pickup at the Merchandise Desk at the convention; they will not be available beforehand. Please be sure to bring your Merchandise confirmation form submitted by Eventbrite. Desk Staff will also have a list of names of everyone who has pre-purchased items as backup
Merchandise items will also be available at the Merchandise Desk during the convention.
Anime North T-Shirts
Anime North 2013 T-Shirts, displaying artwork submitted by Anime North attendees for the 2013 art contest, are available for purchase through Pre-Registration and at the Merchandise Desk at the convention. Prices are $20 CDN / USD per T-Shirt (for Small, Medium, Large, and XL shirts. XXL shirts are charged an extra $3.00). Please include sizes as well as number purchased on the registration form.
Anime North Pins
A souvenir Anime North 2013 enameled metal lapel pin, based on artwork submitted by Anime North attendees for the 2013 art contest, is available for purchase through Pre-Registration and at the Merchandise Desk at the convention, for $5 each.
Unused pre-registrations will not be refunded after the convention.
Group admissions will not be refunded at the convention.
Include the full name and email (if available) of the attendee, and a copy of the Anime North confirmation form from Eventbrite.
Refunds can take the following forms:
- Your pre-registration fee can be returned to you (Anime North will deduct $2 to cover bank/postage fees).
- If you registered by mail, a cheque will be mailed back to the requester. This would take 4-6 weeks. Please include a mailing address and the name the cheque should be made out to with your refund request.
- If you registered online, the refund can be sent back through PayPal (as long as the request comes within two months of purchase). This would take 3-4 days. Beyond two months, we can make the refund online only if the purchaser has a PayPal account. Include with the request for a refund the email on your PayPal account and the refund will be be sent directly there. Otherwise, we will send a refund cheque through the regular mail.
- The pre-registration can be rolled over to next year.
