We in the Anime North's Gaming Department really appreciate all of our Guests who take part with us over the years and for this year is no exception. For this year we would like to welcome Jess Hartley, and our Special Guest Visitor: LIANA K., to our fun and events that Anime North can only offer.


Jess Hartley

Jess Hartley is an American novelist, writer, and editor. Hartley is the author of the novel Exalted: In Northern Twilight published by White Wolf Publishing, and has been an author and contributing writer to nearly twenty role-playing games books from White Wolf Games as well as the editor for several projects from Steampower Publishing and Rogue Games.

Since 2002 Hartley has also produced the ongoing feature article, Forsoothly Spoken, for Renaissance Magazine.

Special Guest Visitor

LIANA K.

Liana K (born February 15, 1978 in Toronto, Ontario), better known by her stage name, Liana, is a Canadian television entertainer who co-hosts the talk show, Ed's Night Party.

After studying English Literature and Anthropology for a time at York University, she abandoned her academic studies in 1997 when she was hired for behind-the-scenes work on Ed's Night Party. This eventually led to Kerzner earning the positions of senior producer and co-head writer of the program. By 2004, she joined Ed the Sock to become the first female co-host on the show.

Liana has also been involved in many of Ed the Sock's other media projects, including the annual Fromage specials and Smartass: The Ed the Sock Report, both on the Canadian cable music and variety television channel MuchMusic. She and Ed also co-hosted the 2007 Constellation Awards. She has also written for the Accidental Comics series Ed and Red's Comic Strip (in which she appears in both photographs and art), and has appeared at a number comic book and science fiction conventions to promote the comic and Ed's Night Party, more about Liana can be found at: http://www.animenorth.com/guest_edliana.php

Ray Fawkes

Ray has been writing professionally since 2001. His comic book works include the critically acclaimed Spookshow, collected by Cyberosia Publishing in 2003, The Apocalipstix with Cameron Stewart (Seaguy, Hellblazer), and Mnemovore, a horror title for DC/VERTIGO with Hans Rodionoff (Lovecraft) and Mike Huddleston (The Coffin, Deep Sleeper). He has two books forthcoming in 2007: A full graphic novel of THE APOCALIPSTIX for Oni Press, and JUNCTION TRUE with Vince Locke for Top Shelf Productions.

He is a contributing writer to Vampire: The Requiem, a "World of Darkness" role-playing game by White Wolf Publishing.

His intense, dark style has already garnered acclaim from comic fans and professional contemporaries alike. Reviews have declared his work to be "distinctive...intelligent and sharply written" (PopImage), and "haunting, intriguing, with a hint of noir" (Cold Cut spotlight Review). He was nominated for a Shuster award as "Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Writer" in 2006 for his work on MNEMOVORE.

Malcolm Sheppard

We also would like to thank Malcolm Sheppard for attending this years convention with his renown publications involved with White-Wolf games and now his own gaming platform "adamant entertainments: terminal identity." Malcolm was born and raised in Peterbough Ontario. He started freelancing in 1999 when wrote an accompaniment to Mage the Ascension. His début lead to many other accomplishments, where he worked on several other projects including Exalted, and Dark ages. He was lead to slowly end mage with a snippet in the central "canonical" story in mages' time of judgment book, ascension. Soon after white wolf approached him and asked him to write parts of the newest release of Mage: the awakening, not to mention many of its supplementary books attached to the core story. Coming close to the end of 2004 he created Adamant Entertainments "terminal Identity" a line of D20 cyberpunk genre supplements. He will also continue his work with white wolf and other independent projects.
